Manager Nick Ling had a torrid time trying to scrape a team together for the visit of MG Star. Luckily, man of the match Gaz Lawton found two players at the last minute to make up the XI. The match started fairly evenly and Masher was looking solid at the back winning everything in the air and really getting himself stuck in. Naggy was also settling into the game well but Wulfs couldn't get the ball to stick up the field and were putting lots of pressure on themselves. It seemed only a matter of time before MG took the lead which eventually happened on seven minutes.
This was the first of four world-class strikes which not many teams could have done anything about. It seemed that whenever MG shot, it flew into the top corner which was really knocking the morale of the Wulfs players. What knocked the morale even more was that despite creating a couple of half chances of there own, everything Wulfs seemed to touch turned to shite and it really didn't look like it would be their day. A couple more sloppy goals were conceded following poor marking to leave Wulfs down hearted and dejected at half time at 0 - 6 down.
The second half was all about salvaging some pride, and Wulfs started so much better after organising and tightening up at the back. They were a completely different side and were creating lots of chances of their own. Wulfs should have easily had three goals in the second half but the MG 'keeper made two world class saves from Richard Marsh's well placed shot and Masher's point blank header. Bupesh Patel was also unlucky not to get on the score sheet after being through on goal and seeing the ball take the biggest bobble ever just before he hit it. MG scored a couple more in the half and could have had more if it wasn't for Tristan Stevens making some superb saves.
The final MG goal really summed up the day for Old Wulfs. Player-'Manager' Nick Ling took a free kick from just inside his own half which went straight to the chest of an MG player. He coolly lobbed the ball over the top of the defence into the path of another MG player. Having bust a gut to get back and atone for his terrible error, Lingy got there just too late as the MG player shot. Tristan again made a great save with his legs that rebounded straight into Lingy who buried it into his own net. What a shocking day!
Gaz Lawton gets MOM simply for finding two players and getting five more audacious nutmegs during the game. Masher and Naggy can also be proud of their performances despite the result.
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 0 MG Star 8.
