With five changes from last week's team who lost a hard fought game against Penncroft, Wulfs welcomed fellow bottom halfers Cresconians.
Wulfs had taken all three points earlier in the season after a scrappy 1-0 win and started the game in need of the same.
With Del Boy Dave Griffiths away scouting abroad - for a villa not a player - it was down to youngish managerial hotshot Phil "sheepskin coat" Gardner to organize and inspire.
The first big decision came before the game with a change in formation to 3-4-3, this was maintained even after it became obvious that Crecs had a five man midfield. After a while their extra man started to become a defender, as he had to start to pick up the extra forward player.
Wulfs attacked very well with Simon Stewart and Adam Perkins both playing off big man Ben Kimpton.
Wulfs had a couple of early chances both coming off corners and Adam Perkins had a good shot saved after an excellent run by Matt Gould.
The first goal came from a Martin Dalton corner that was diverted into the net by a Cresconians player but claimed by Martin as he definitely meant it to cannon off that particular player.
An inspirational half time team talk sent the players out after the break knowing that a good forty-five minutes would be a good platform for the last few games of the season.
Wulfs stuck to the same formation and continued to dominate with MC Jammer and Jim Lawton having the better of a tough midfield battle and flying wingers Dalton and Gould getting forward well.
Disaster struck on sixty minutes when 'Diamond' Dave Scorer was called into action to make a one on one save. As Dave blocked the forward's thunderous shot he fell awkwardly and was unable to continue and had to be replaced by Shane Evans.
We have since learned that Dave dislocated his shoulder and will be out for the rest of the season. Get well soon from everyone.
Wulfs looked to have wrapped the points up when Simon Stewart scored his long overdue goal, he flashed his shot across the face of the goal into the far corner and the keeper was left with no chance.
With players dropping like flies it was getting a bit hectic, first Martin Dalton went off for five minutes after taking a boot to the face. Then Perkins went on a run down the wing but unfortunately left his hamstring somewhere by the halfway line. He went off never to return again and will also miss the end few games of the season.
Cresc's scored with three minutes left but were unable to get an undeserved equaliser after a good performance from the stand in keeper.
It's now on to Silhill for the next instalment of nerve jangling fun.
Old Wulfs Man o' the Match. Close call but Simon Stewart gets it just ahead of 80's rap superstar Jamie "stop, Jammer time" Perkins.
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 2 Cresconians 1.
